FAQ
ScalpShade
Is there a way to prevent side effects?
Most side effects, where reported, result from an inexperienced operator injecting the ampoule too deep into the scalp, causing a large, blue spot that looks like a bruise. Hand pressure, needle length, and ampoule injection amount must be adjusted carefully and appropriately at all times.
Is ScalpShade safe to do before a hair transplant?
Since ScalpShade and hair transplantation are different procedures, it is safe to use ScalpShade before a hair transplant. However, going through both procedures in quick succession may put too much pressure on the scalp. Thus, it could be safer to leave a sufficient time gap between the two procedures. Conversely, it is safe to perform a ScalpShade treatment on scars after a hair transplant.
Do I have to shave my head for the procedure?
You don’t have to shave or cut your hair unless you are getting the treatment to cover a completely bald head. We do not recommend using ScalpShade to cover a completely bald head.
How should I cover up side effects from procedures done at another clinic?
In some cases, you can use ScalpShade to cover uneven spots on the scalp caused by side effects resulting from procedures done at another clinic. However, if the pigment has penetrated too deep into the scalp, you may need to remove the coloring with a laser treatment before using Scalp Shade. *after laser removal wait 1 month
Do I have to lie down for the ScalpShade procedure?
You can get your ScalpShade treatment while sitting in a hair-staying chair instead of lying down in a bed.
Can I get a ScalpShade treatment and scalp scaling at the same time?
We recommend you get your scalp scaling treatment done at least 3 days before using ScalpShade.
Will I need any retouching?
Typically, 1 treatment can sufficiently fill out your scalp. Therefore, retouching is unnecessary, but if you would like retouching, we can do so after 4 weeks.
What if the color doesn’t seem vivid enough?
When getting a hairline treatment, you need to remove enough sebum for best results.
-get rid of the oil first before procedure
-use regular shampoo before the procedure
Semi-Permanent Makeup (SMPU)
How long does semi-permanent makeup ( SMPU) last?
SPMU results can last anywhere between 18 and 30 months.
How long the procedure lasts depends on your skin type and preferences. Some skin takes to the pigment better, so the length between procedures varies widely.
The pigments used in semi-permanent makeup fade over time. Touch-ups can help with maintenance, though you may choose to wait until the pigment has almost completely faded and opt for the procedure all over again.
What to should we be aware of?
The tool that we use for the semi-permanent make up procedure is always a one-time use, disposable instrument.
While SPMU is generally considered to be as safe as other forms of tattooing, there’s little medical research or clinical studies to back this up.
In addition to ensuring safe and responsible practices, you should also be aware of how your particular skin type might respond to SPMU. For example, a lot of SPMU professionals believe people with dry skin will experience more satisfactory results than those with oily skin.
What to avoid BEFORE the procedure?
You should avoid semi-permanent makeup altogether if you:
- are pregnant
- are prone to keloids
- have had an organ transplant
You should also be cautious if you have a compromised liver or a viral condition, such as hepatitis. Also, some skin care products may impact the results or the length of time the procedure lasts.
If you choose to microblade your eyebrows, you may want to stop using the following in your skin care routine:
- retinol
- acids
- fragrance
- mechanical exfoliation
- chemical peels
- microdermabrasion
What to avoid AFTER the procedure?Skin care after SPMU
Aftercare for the skin where procedure took place is similar to tattoo care, if a bit more intensive.
The pigment immediately following the procedure will appear quite dark, and the skin underneath it will be red. After all, needles are used to cut into the skin, so it’s typical to experience some redness and sensitivity immediately following.
About 2 hours after SPMU, you should run a cotton swab dipped in sterilized water over the area. This will get rid of any excess dye on your brows. It will also keep the area sterile.
It takes anywhere from 7 to 14 days for the skin to begin to appear healed and for the pigment to fade to its intended shade.
Follow these steps to take care of your skin after SPMU procedure:
Avoid getting the area wet for at least 7 days. This includes keeping your face dry during a shower.
Don’t wear makeup for at least a week. This is because the pigments are still settling into the shallow cuts in your skin caused by the blading.
Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or itch the eyebrow area.
Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed and you have a follow-up appointment.
Keep your hair away from your brow line.
Apply any medicated cream or healing balm provided by your technician as directed.
IMPORTANT:
After your skin is fully healed, you’ll want to protect your semi-permanent makeup investment by taking care of your skin. Applying a sunscreen to the microbladed area may help prevent fading.
Lipblush
What is Lip blush?
Lip Blush is a semi-permanent tattoo that can last up to 1-2 years depending on your lifestyle. It’s perfect for people who are always on the go, no need to put lipstick on just a lipbalm.
We make it really look natural close to the shade of your natural lip color. “Pinkish” for a youthful looking.
What are the PRE/POST OP?
Please make sure to exfoliate your lips a week prior the appt. You can do this at home with a drop of coconut oil and sugar to create your own sugar scrub. Dry lips cannot be worked on so it is important to stay hydrated and to moisturize your lips everyday. I recommend using Vaseline or Aquaphor.
Healing process is very easy. There will be a little bit of peeling/flaking, like having chapped lips. Keep them clean and apply thin layer of Aquaphor or ointment (provided) daily for about a week. You can wear a mask while it’s healing.
Pre-Appointment Restrictions:
The following restrictions are to ensure your skin is in that he best possible condition for an amazing procedure.
- Please do not work out on the day of the appointment as your body heat will expand your pores.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, and sunburns 3 days before your procedure. Skin should not be in the process of healing itself.
- Do NOT take blood thinners such as: Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, omega-3, unless medically necessary; 48-72 hours prior to the procedure. (Tylenol or Acetaminophen is OK!)
- Do NOT drink alcohol or coffee 48 hours before the procedure treatment.
- If you are on your period, please take 2 regular strength Tylenols 30 minutes before your appointment to avoid extra sensitivity and pain.
Please plan 7 days for healing process. During this time, please avoid:
- Water on your lips, aside from cleaning them
- Makeup
- Sauna
- Sunbathing
- Pool
- Working out / excessive sweating
- DO NOT pick your lips (flaking and scabbing is normal)
- DO NOT apply anything besides Aquaphor or aftercare ointment (re-apply every 30 mins)
- DO NOT scrub or exfoliate your lips, wash with fragrance-free soap twice a day and gently dry with tissue napkin
- DRINK liquids with a straw
- DO NOT use any products that contains acids such as glycolic, lactic, AHA, Retinol and exfoliants around your lip area. This will alter the pigment and cause it to fade.
- Smoking will delay the healing process and could cause discolouration and/or alter the pigment.
IS IT SAFE?
YES. Each permanent cosmetic procedure is done under strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines. A certified technician administers new procedures using disposable needles, tubes, caps, casings; anything that comes into contact with clients are brand new and sealed prior to your treatment. Pigments used are FDA approved ingredients for permanent cosmetic use.
What is the healing process?
Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so. Your lips may look like you got lip filler, however this is normal and typically tapers off within the first 24 hours. Also, your lips will appear darker and bigger for a couple of days. Lips are super easy to heal as our technique is gentle. It only takes about 4-5 days, on average, to heal and during that time they may feel tight and chapped. During this time please avoid working out, swimming, sauna and/or tanning. You must keep them hydrated with the ointment provided.
HOW LONG WILL THE FINAL RESULTS LAST?
They fade over time and should be refreshed every 1-1.5years for maintenance. Fading is desired as your skin and facial structure will change as aging occurs. However this does not mean that your semi-permanent makeup will completely disappear. Depending on your skin and health, overtime your tattoo may leave a soft haze of residual pigment behind.
These factors will cause your semi- permanent tattoo to fade faster:
- Iron deficiency
- Sun exposure
- Exfoliants
- Strong immune systems
- Exposure to salt water
- Dry lips
Why the TOUCHUP necessary?
1. Touch ups is the FINAL step of the lip blush procedure. First touch up is recommended to be done no sooner than 6 weeks after initial procedure. Please ensure you have waited long enough from lip fillers, Botox, chemical peels or laser treatments to have your touchup done. After the healing process, lips will be 50% lighter than they appear immediately after the procedure. Touchup sessions will make the results last longer.
2. During your touch up session it is possible to change the shape and the colour. We can only go bolder or darker not lighter.
3. Healing varies from person to person. Touch ups are done to go over any pigment loss during the healing process and to fill over any spots that the lips did not retain during the initial procedure.
WHAT’S NORMAL AFTER LIP BLUSH?
Swelling, itching, scabbing, light bruising and dry tightness. Ice packs are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare calm is nice for scabbing and tightness.
Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 3-7 days the darkness will fade and once swelling dissipates, unevenness usually disappears. If they are too dark or still a bit uneven after 4 weeks then we will make adjustments during the touch up appointment. You must be patient!
Colour bloom period: Week 1-3 barely any colour then week 4-6 colour will start to resurface and bloom again.
The procedure area has to be completely healed before we can address any concerns. This takes at least 6 weeks. Patient’s aftercare is important and makes up 50% of the treatment’s success.
Needing a touch up months or years later. A touch up may be needed 1 to 3 years after the initial procedure depending on your skin type, medications and sun exposure. We recommend a touch up 6-12 weeks after the first session and annually to keep them looking fresh and beautiful.
